SOCIAL VISIT TO CHILDREN'S HOME AND ANJANAM POOR HOME FOR WOMEN
As a part of our B Ed
curriculum we had our Social visits to Govt. Children's Home Kollam and Anjanam Poor Home for Women.
Visits give ourselves the
opportunity to see unfamiliar faces
though familiar and discuss how
they feel. For myself and friends, it gives the chance to hear first hand
about the knowledge and faced by the children’s who are under the in conflict
with law and the child under the protection and reassures them that we are
taking every care of the needs and concerns of them who lack the love and care from family bondage.
we spend some time with them giving them chocolates and many other, also involved in their entertainment programmes. Their smiles, fun ,naughtiness everything really made us touch and feel that how lucky we are comparing them in every perspective. Some of us too joined them during the entertainment hour a small dedication from our side to them...
My visit to this place was for the first time ever and I discovered a new piece of information about this type of institution.I was able to see and learn a great deal more about orphanage in general. We do get a chance to interact much with the children. The organization already has a pretty good system of placement. It is run by governmental involvement or funding. It does still lack a great deal of services; one of them is psychological or mental health services for the children. The children already has a good school system because the organization is connected to a school ready for them with a curriculum that follows the national education standard. The children's Home itself also has a pretty adequate facility for the children to live, study in the evening, play and run around, a computer room, and so on. They also have a football field. Overall, the place is adequate enough to live. It provides safety and comfort for the children. Then we went to Anjanam poor home for women, the place near kollam itself.Photography was prohibited there. This official social development organisation of the Catholic Diocese of Quilon established to promote, facilitate, co-ordinate and conduct social action/ programmes for the emancipation and upliftment of the weaker sections, particularly those socially challenged and subjected to discrimination on the grounds of gender, caste and creed.
I realize that my country still needs a lot more to improve in terms of services for children, but I am happy to see that attempts have been made by some responsible individuals and organizations to provide the best care possible for the children. Things are not perfect and may never be perfect, but striving for better is the message that I try to convey to my future students. Perhaps in the future, these students are the ones that will think about new ways, new interventions that work. Let’s always stay hopeful.
Soon after that we went to kollam beach were we exhausted completely.
The day came to an end by 6pm and we really
enjoyed the trip also the realizations we discovered really has taken a special place in the corner of our heart. On the way back home in the bus we with the ideal mix engaged in music, antakshari etc.
