SEVENTH WEEK TEACHING PRACTICE- PHASE II

SEVENTH WEEK TEACHING PRACTICE- PHASE II (18-12-17 TO 22-12-17)

The experiences of sitting in the examination hall are really full of torture, great tension, mental agony and excitement, even as a teacher with full responsibility. we always gives a  prying and suspicious looks upon students. But, its really difficult to run out the time in a single room. What I really noticed is that nowadays children are found with lack of examination phobia. Only few students are really serious about the exams rest were writing the exams for namesake and without any seriousness. They don't have any concern for getting good marks etc, but doing unnecessary peeping and making disturbances was continuous. I was bit strict in my class, and won't allow copying, the children might have cursed me..............

On 22nd of Dec we celebrated christmas day in our school which was quite
good.

 MERRY X MAS TO ALL.......

EIGHT WEEK REFLECTION PHASE II

EIGHT WEEK REFLECTION PHASE II
(18-12-17 TO 22-12-17)

Again we had exam duty this week, all these days we had our daily prayer by 9.30 am and exam started by 10 am, we 8 trainees were assigned for exam duty on each floor. We had a very good experience as a teacher trainee, we were given the responsibility to invigilate the class. Exam was till 21 st of this month and on 22nd our school celebrated school christmas day. We were invited for this special celebration.

The day began with Mass and the Christmas story. Though our Christmas celebration falls a bit later than most, there is no less enthusiasm when the day finally arrives.

We were blessed with delicious holiday treats, wonderful gifts for our students and the joy of each other’s company as we celebrated
Jesus’ birth.
Times like these are sharp reminders of the true meaning of Christmas. In the weeks leading up to Christmas, we were blessed to receive boxes of various sizes and shapes containing gifts and special Christmas treats .

SIXTH WEEK REFLECTION PHASE II

SIXTH WEEK REFLECTION PHASE II  (11-12-2017 TO 15-12-2017)

Revision is the process of revising.Getting ready for exams does not come naturally to everyone, and can seem very stressful.   Having understood my course and perhaps remembered some of it, the process of revision, in which knowledge is consolidated, is a learned skill. On the first two days of this week it was revision then the school exam started on 13-12-2017 wednesday and the first subject itself was English. I made effective use of time and help the min recapitulating the previous units too........

We got exam duty and it was compulsory, the exam time was up to 3.30 pm. On collecting the answer sheets and settling it correctly in staffroom was our work. This was our life time first experience to manage a exam hall of large students and we with full responsibility. Anyway it was a good time.

FIFTH WEEKLY REFLECTION PHASE II

FIFTH WEEKLY REFLECTION PHASE II (4-12-2017 TO 08-12-2017)

Phew. Another week over, another term done and dusted. A particular highlight of this week was  the kalolsavom programmes. The extreme moment of happiness is that many of our school children got first A grade in district level competitions and overall championship in few items which make me proud this time.

CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

This week on the total I completed 23 lesson plans and also conducted the class  Test for their approaching exam. I have asked them to write feedback on my teaching, their comments developed my self esteem and confidence because none of my students gave me a negative remark that's what made me surprised because nobody suggested anything new to apply in my teaching or negative remarks in my teaching..

SELF REFLECTION

I am Lucky, I had an awesome cooperating teacher and students who set me free to try new things, this might be one reason behind the positive feedback. This really enriches me a lot and feeling more comfortable in this field comparing my first phase and those days.

I could see a great improvements in my teaching and increase in my confidence. Hope this continue................

FOURTH WEEK TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE II

FOURTH WEEK TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE II (27-11-17 TO 30-11-17)

On this 4th week of teaching practise we again had a week full of substitution, as the Sub District Youth Festival has started on 20/11/2017 in Boys H.S.S Punalur, thus it was said by the Headmaster and Deputy HM to maintain the school discipline.

CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

This week on the total I completed 18 lesson plans and also conducted the Diagnostic Test after completing the 15 th Lesson plan. I have given them Poster making as portfolio and also given an activity from Chapter The Nightingale and the Rose. As per the instruction by my mentor Mr. Francis sir I conducted test paper out of 10. Only the those who went for the practice for kalolsavom scored poor marks others scored above 6. The class was funny when I went during the substitution hour in my class VII J.

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

As told the Sub District Youth Festival was conducted in Boys H.S.S Punalur, and a lot of students from UP, H S and HSS section of our school has participated in many competitions. And many of them has secured first, second and third positions also the others got" A" Grade for their presentation, these holders will be participating for the District level in the next week.

AND THE OVERALL CHAMPIONSHIP GOES TO OUR SCHOOL, St.GORETTI, HSS PUNALUR.

SELF REFLECTION

This week was quite satisfactory and heavy. From the substitution classes I got new feedbacks;- "Some of my students were amazed, others were indifferent, and some (at least one) thought I was crazy. Every time, however, I was able to make fun of myself and to use that self-deprecating humor as a tool to get my students actively engaged in exploring the subject matter or any other. I can proudly (yet humbly) say that it is the best profession to remain in the minds of many child "the future citizens."

"What did I learn from the experience? That you're never too old to learn!"

THIRD WEEK TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE II

THIRD WEEK TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE II (20-11-17 TO 24-11-17)

My Third phase of teaching practice began on 20th of Nov and ended on 24th of this month. And overall by now I have completed 14 lesson plans. It was on this monday our optional teacher Bincy madam got married, we  were unable to participate on that auspicious occasion. In this week D.E.O came to our school, thus we all trainees were forced to maintain complete disciple in school campus. Even our Principal also came to get permission for the junior's Initiatory Teaching Experience. This week we had a busy schedule as many teachers were busy in kalolsavom programmes and others went for study tour as escorts.

 CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

This week I had very good experience, now I am very much confident as teacher, I can feel that very much.Teaching can be a demanding profession. There are times when students can seem uninterested in learning and disruptive to the classroom environment. There are plenty of studies and educational strategies for improving student behavior. But personal experience may be the best way to show how to turn a difficult student into a dedicated pupil. I had such and experience -- one where I was able to help change a student with major behavioral issues into a learning success story.

This week I started the new chapter the The Day in the Country by Anton Pavlovich Chekhov and notes on previous portions were given, even activities were done at the same time.

The most memorable experience for me in this week was the the substitution periods in class IX A and IX D. On 20th monday during 3rd period I went to IX A, the class is very complicated with big students both in height and weight, its very very difficult to control them, one is that their age is the one such factor which really influence their behaviour and the new generation with full of ignorance toward the elders and also lack of respect to we B. Ed Trainees, I am glad that I succeeded in eliminating these barriers with them completely. This is one such class in which we trainees hesitant to go for substitution periods, but I could attain both respect and love from their side and this means a lot for me.

Another class as I mentioned was IX D, it was really surprising from the answer from a boy to whom I asked his ambition in future. His answer was " Terrorist", shockingly I got completely blank from his answer, I came to know his background and he comes from such an environment, I didn't provoked or advised him, but here I changed my way of attitude as a teacher to a sister then we had an informal talk, I realized that the boy actually knows 'what is right and wrong' but he finds pleasure in becoming 'an anti-hero', his every talk towards me and to his friends are like orders sounding rough. By the end of the period I think I could generate a spark of goodness in him, though I was not completely successful in changing his overall attitude towards terrorism, I could seriously made him something think logically.

On 23 Thursday our Principal, Mr. M.R Brahmanandhan Sir came to our school for simple observation.

 EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Our school had kalolsavom practices and pupils completely engaged on that. The kalolsavom starts on 28th of this month in BOYS H.S.S SCHOOL, PUNALUR.

SELF REFLECTION

I had a positive experience in this week. I imparted new style of approaching students, this had helped me alot to get their love.Although I feel this experience went well, there is always room for improvement. I believe the openness and readiness of my attitude upon them made me a successful teacher.

SECOND WEEK TEACHING PRACTICE-PHASE II

SECOND WEEK TEACHING PRACTICE-PHASE II (13-11-2017 TO 17-11-2017)

My second week of teaching practice started on 13-11-2017, and I really had a great time this week. This week I hope I changed a lot as a Teacher comparing my first phase, I became more serious and responsible this time. And I can feel it very much.I really faced and influenced with the  strategies for coping with challenges in daily professional life and to the general well-being, and shape students’ learning environment and influence student motivation and achievement. A kind of satisfaction was felt this time.

CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

This week totally I completed 9 lesson plans, My students except one or two others are very good in responding and interacting with me. Students of my all are eager to learn and write, which provides me a fine atmosphere. This week the chapter "The Nightingale and the Rose" was taken with good entry activities and stories.

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

In this week, we had a quiz competition held at Shankar's Eye hospital , Punalur on behalf of World Diabetes Day on Nov 14. Three students from our school participated in this quiz contest and they secured third position, myself and anusree were the escort teachers and we felt proud and responsible then. It was our first time experience to escort the school representatives.similarly, children's day was also celebrated and prizes were given to the winners in extra curricular actives on this day.

SELF REFLECTION

All I felt is that I could strictly maintain the class discipline and mess discipline, even the school teachers had good feedback on our mess management in peaceful way. The substitution periods gave me an opportunity to mingle with other students of my class, this had really created a friendly atmosphere with the students. Their innocent love and concern really influenced my teaching and discipline attitude. Here, school climate , the quality of social relations between students and teachers was peacefully maintained.

FIRST WEEK OF TEACHING PRACTICE

FIRST WEEK OF TEACHING PRACTICE  (8-11-2017 TO 20-11-2017)

“You cannot teach a man anything, you can only help him find it within himself.”

My second phase of teaching practice began on eight november 2017 wednesday. And in this phase and my class charge was at VIII J  for my teaching internship for teaching English subject.
On the first day, soon after reaching school due to the absence of School Head master we took the the permission of Deputy HM to start our teaching practice, she was extremely happy to have us because many teachers went for Tour programme as an escort for 10 th class students and many other teachers were leave on that day. She allotted us our respective classes according to our lesson plan and gave us substitution periods. The day was filled with substitution for we all eight trainees. Thus, the very first day made us immensely tired.During lunch, we went to serve food also. Thus the day gone by very fast.

Same was the other day and the third day also..We had 24 substitution periods other than our respective allotted class time for two days. This time I am not happy with the class I got, the class is very noisy, this time my guide is Francis sir, he introduced me to them and told them to cooperate. I am not satisfied from these two days of my class.

 CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

On the second day I took the poem " Song of the flower" written by khalil Gibran and showed them picture on Laptop ,the third day I completed the the same poem. thus completing two lesson plan of same chapter. I got one substitution period in this same class and finished my third lesson plan which is again a poem, " First Showers" by Nalini Sharma. I gave them group work, I give review on poem.
The class was satisfactory except the continuous murmuring by the boys of my class.

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

On our first week it was a busy schedule for all teachers as many were leave. There was quiz competition for the higher secondary students in this week, in which students actively participated.

SELF REFLECTION

Complete busy schedule and got tired of doing continuous substitution periods all the three days. The substitution periods were quite memorable, as I had to manage 3 classes for the same period. Classroom management was really acquired by me this week, managed many naughty kids. Thus, overall I had very god experience by the end of this week of teaching practice.

OUR SECOND PHASE OF TEACHING PRACTICE

TENTH WEEKLY REFLECTION

TENTH WEEKLY REFLECTION ( 21-08-2017 TO 24-08-2017)

Being the last week of the teaching practice, it still was a very hectic days. I had to hand-over the classes, get the signatures in my record sheet, update the material on the student's PC folders etc etc. I feel that this teaching practice ended too soon. I can still recall lecturers telling us about it and my feeling of complete inadequacy as I thought about the problems that I might encounter, the lack of help from the part of the staff (which was definitely not the case :)), challenging students, unequipped extra class etc etc... However, the present feeling now that it is over, is very positive.

I felt that I have learned a lot:
· about how to present myself during the first encounter with the student
· how to negotiate with teachers and other members of staff (examples: having the technician working on a PC during the lesson,
· how to react when having unpredicted visitors in class (headmaster and 2 assistant heads)
· what works best with students (interesting activities, hands on tasks, group work etc)
· Unpredictability of events - having to skip lessons there and then because a talk was rescheduled

All in all, it was a very good start in the world of teaching and I hope that this experience will help me to grow into a professional teacher who is able to bring out the best in each of her students and herself :)

A ceremony at each school marked the closure of the intern’s week of teaching practice and they were over the moon as their students presented them with gifts of cards, flowers and candy before they left. Posing for class pictures with their students, interns said they were sad to leave behind their students and how great they had been all week.
All in all the week went very smoothly and all that’s left is  the interns now is to travel to their placements and finally get to see the schools, which they have eagerly been awaiting to intern of teaching practice in for the next semester!

SCHOOL ONAM CELBRATIONS

ST. GORETTI SCHOOL ONAM CELEBRATIONS

The rich cultural heritage of Kerala comes out in its best form and spirit during the ten day long festival, Onam. It is indeed a treat to be a part of the grand carnival. People of Kerala make elaborate preparations to celebrate it in the best possible manner. They make intricately designed flower designs called ‘Pookkalam’ in the front courtyards of their houses to welcome King Mahabali. Our students also designed wonderful flower carpets in front of the school. A class-wise ‘Pookkalam competition’ was also conducted.
The most impressive part of the Onam celebration is the grand feast called ‘Onasadya’. The staff members of our school arranged a sumptuous ‘Onasadya’. ‘Onappattu’ , the traditional songs of Onam, Kaikottikali, a traditional graceful dance, short comedy skits, etc. were performed by our students in connection with the Onam celebrations. Traditional games like Vadamvali & Uriyadi added to the zest of the celebrations. “Payasam” was distributed to all the students.

EIGHTH WEEKLY REFLECTION

EIGHTH WEEKLY REFLECTION (7-08-2017 TO 11-08-2017)

This was our eighth week of Teaching practice. I am satisfied with my teaching by now.It wasn’t easy to hear the bad news from the principal, especially because it dropped at the beginning of the first week of school. It’s moments like these when you feel unappreciated, devalued, and sometimes you want to quit. But, by now I have improved a lot and happy.

CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

By this week I completed my portion up to where the unit test is going to conduct. On showing certain pictures through ICT made the children so attentive and excitement. Even I celebrated my birthday with my class students (IX F ), and gave them chocolates. I don't know now, I am confident to be in front of their teacher who always be there in my class time to observe my class. I do remember the time when I felt distracted when he observes my class, but I have changed a lot comparing those days.

EXTRA CURRICULAR OBJECTIVES

This week our school celebrated Nakasaki day on 9th August and there was programme based on "Hiroshima - Nakasaki" also chart presentation, every class students were taken to the smart room to show the programme, which was smoothly done.

We also conducted our Field Study on 10-07-2017 (thursday) based on the topic "Drug Abuse and Alcoholism" where myself had done a powerpoint presentation on the same and also displayed a shot-film to the children of class VIII G.

Other than this, the Mount Tabor B Ed Teacher Trainees too helped us to the present the programme, by taking the substitution periods that was allotted to us during our programme also there cooperation had immensely helped us on that day.

SELF REFLECTION

Overall, this weekend was fine, with my Birthday, Nakasaki day, and our Field study, also I completed  'the 2 units' up to where the exam portion is. My class hours was nice with my general students, even the substitution periods with primary section was awesome, substitution hours became the most favourite of mine and children are so loving, that they want we B Ed trainees to take their free periods.
